Context:
Some teams expressed the desire to be able to anticipate upcoming technical challenges more easily to prepare internships or student projects. Technical challenges can also be used as an intermediate steps which ensure rule changes will not significantly decrease the quality of the game play.
Coming up with technical challenges which can effectively be used for the league is not a trivial tasks because there are several important constraints which needs to be taken into account:
- It should always possible to accomplish the challenge in around 2 minutes (for scheduling constraints)
- Challenge should be fair and allow to rank all teams in a proper way if several teams succeed.
- The balance between all the technical challenges should ensure that several research fields are represented
- It should not be possible to perform well through hacky solutions
